A WHITE, BLACK AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF
THREE SHEEP
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The stone is finely carved with an intimate scene depicting two
lambs reclining to either side of their mother, two of which are
depicted grasping a lingzhi stem in their mouths. Each one is
carved from a differently-coloured area of the stone: the ewe in
pale greenish-white, and the lambs in dark grey and deep russet.
