A fine and large pair of ormolu-mounted Canton famille rose
vases and covers

Each vase of square baluster form and boldly painted on the body and
neck with cartouches variously containing scenes of a dignitary receiving
a military delegation surrounded by attendants, household members
worshipping at a family altar, and elegant ladies gathered on terraces
and in gardens, the necks with two pairs of female figures applied on
each side, holding fans and resting their cheeks on their hands, the
covers each decorated with butterflies, flowers and double gourds on
a gilt ground and surmounted by a finial formed as a gilt-robed lady
resting by a small stool with a teacup in one hand and a teapot beside
her, fixed ormolu mounts. The vases and covers 51cm (20in) high (4).
