A rare pale green jade archaistic vase and
cover
18th century
The vase of flattened baluster form and crisply
carved around the mid-section with a band
containing a taotie masks on a leiwen ground,
between ruyi-head borders at the stepped foot
and shoulder, the neck with a band containing
stylised floral scrolls flanked by pierced handles
shaped as stylised birds’ heads, the cover with a
further band of ruyi heads beneath the stepped
finial incised with a rope motif, wire inlaid wood
stand.
