Mr and Mrs James and Meg Mullion owned
a successful shipping business in the Far East
in the first half of the twentieth century,
during which time they built up an extensive
collection of Chinese art. As very keen and
               knowledgeable race-horse owner-breeders,
they also managed a stud at Ardenode House,
the contents of which were sold in 1995.
