A white jade ‘chilong and fish’ double box and covers as a single piece comprising two boxes and covers flanking a central
waterpot, 19th century, sold at Christie’s Hong Kong on 30 May 2005,
19th century Fine Chinese Jade Carvings from the Tianhe Shanfang Collection, lot
1545.
The boxes formed as two circles carved from a single piece of jade and
joined by a pair of fish swimming head to tail and carefully incised on
their bodies with stars, the covers each with a coiling chilong carved
with head curved around towards its tail and holding in its mouth a fully-
blossoming lotus.
