A rare pair of Imperial white jade double-
sided panels
18th century
Each carved from a slender piece of translucent
white jade, one with a scene of two elderly
scholars, one leaning on a staff and the other
leaning on the first, journeying through a
landscape of pines and rocks towards a third
scholar also with a staff standing outside a
pavilion, the reverse with a crane underneath
a pine tree as another crane flies above, the
second screen with three scholars examining a
painting of the yin-yang symbol beside a hut
amid mountains and pines, the reverse with
a male and a female deer also in a rocky pine
landscape, wood stands.
Each screen 16.5cm (6 5/8in) long (4).
