A green, blue and copper-red baluster vase
18th century
The body painted in underglaze blue with five
leaping demon-like figures each holding a
brush and other scholarly objects and clothed
in spotted hides covering their lower bodies
and shoulders painted in underglaze red and
issuing long streaming ribbons, the vase also
decorated with a six-starred constellation, a
flowering prunus branch in a jardinière and
two further empty jardinières, all reserved on a
smooth even-toned green ground.
