A blue and copper-red ‘dragon’ vase,
tianqiuping
19th century
The rounded body and gently flaring neck
boldly painted in underglaze red with two
five-clawed dragons in energetic pursuit of a
single flaming pearl, one rising from waves and
the other writhing through blue cloud scrolls,
wood stand.

The present vase has been inspired in form and
design by the underglaze blue and red ‘dragon
