curving well, painted on the exterior walls
with the Eight Immortals the Hehe twins
standing amid clouds and pine trees
rendered in iron red and thickly applied
enamels, foot pad and recessed base left
unglazed (chips, fritting to the enamels).

with a phoenix and butterflies flying above
peony branches; the hat stand painted
in famille rose enamels with the Hundred
Children theme including a dragon dance,
auspicious elephants and lions and placards
inscribed tai ping and tian xia (cracked, base
drilled).

PHOENIX-TAIL VASE
Kangxi mark, Late Qing/Republic period
The tall trumpet neck ainted with opposing
reserves of rocks and flowers and the ovoid
body displaying phoenixes amid summer and
autumn flowers in bloom around a garden
rock, all framed by a dotted ground strewn
with flower sprigs and butterflies rendered in
bright colors and black outline, the recessed
base bearing the six-character mark in iron
red standard script (chipped).
