A FINE AND RARE GILT DRY LACQUER FIGURE OF Provenance
AVALOKITESVARA Acquired by the ballet dancer, Vaslav Nijinsky in China, 1920’s,
17th century by repute
Seated in dyhanasana, the left and right hand posed to possibly Acquired from the granddaughter of Vaslav Nijinsky, San Francisco,
hold a lotus stem or a kalasa, his wide-sleeved robes worn over both 1960’s
shoulders and falling in gentle folds around his legs and to the front Harry Lawrence, Laguna Beach, California
and tied on a neat bow at his mid-belly below simple jewels framing
his exposed chest, his serene expression framed by wide-lobed 出處:

dressed in unusual and elegantly plaited and tiered locks, the figure 加州拉古納海灘 Harry Lawrence 藏
covered overall with gilt lacquer worn in places and with good patina.
This striking dry lacquer figure of the Goddess of Mercy is expertly
23 1/2in (59.7cm) high made demonstrating superb craftsmanship, naturalistically rendering
the soft folds of the robe cascading over the shoulders and legs, the
$30,000 - 50,000 face gracefully conveying the benevolence of the deity. The elegantly
plaited locks of the hair are beautifully rendered.
