A WHITE JADE ‘THREE SAGES’ PLAQUE
Qing Dynasty, 18th Century
Of oval form, crisply carved in varying levels of high relief depicting
the bearded scholars walking up a narrow path to a tall pine tree
amidst jagged mountain rocks, the creamy white stone highly
polished, the back plain and softly polished showing natural yellow
tone from the skin, now mounted in metal frame as a pendant with
an old label on the back dedicated to the “Chien-Lung Period, 1736-
1795 A.D.”
