A Tibetan gilt copper alloy figure of Vajradhara, he is seated in
dhayanasana on a double lotus throne with distinct upturned
pointy petals on front half of base, hands crossed in front of
chest holds the vajra and bell, the robe with beaded borders, he
wears a three petalled crown, armrings, earrings and necklaces set
with turquoise stones, a scarf intertwines arms and head. Sealed.
14th/15th century. Weight 3293 g. H. 28 cm.
Vajradhara, the primordial Buddha, holds the first rank in the Buddhist
pantheon and represents the highest state of enlightenment. He holds
the vajra (dorje) and bell, indispensable for tantric Vajrayana practice
and imbued with profound symbolic meaning a.o. the union of wisdom
and compassion. A meditative experience that leads the practitioner
