QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD
each finely potted with rounded sides supported on a
recessed base, the interior well painted with a central
flowerhead reserved on an underglaze-blue ground within
a ruyi-head border and diaper band enclosing panels of
chilong, encircled by a wide frieze of polychrome lotus
alternating with cobalt blue ruyi, the rim with further
chilong and diaper pattern, the exterior with six colorful
lanterns divided by beribboned poles suspending auspicious
emblems (2)

A SMALL FAMILLE-VERTE ‘MAGPIE AND
PRUNUS’ VASE
QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD
of elegant pear shape, rising from a low tapered foot to a
gently flaring rim, brightly enameled with a continuous scene
depicting a pair of magpie perched on gnarled boughs of
blossoming prunus, amid an array of flowering plants, all
emerging from pierced rockwork, a narrow band of pendent
leaves encircling the rim
height 6½ in., 16.5 cm
