A bronze stupa
Qing Dynasty
The square tiered base cast on the lowest tier with
five seated figures of the Buddha on each side,
beneath a circular medallion on each side on the
upper tier, each medallion containing a depiction
of the Buddha variously preaching, meditating
and walking outside city walls, each scene divided
by a guardian figure standing at each corner,
all beneath flaring friezes at each corner of the
stand containing a pair of musicians and other
performers, the central pole supported on a double
lotus pedestal and ringed by five broad circular
layers beneath the finial cast with a vajra-like
terminal.
