A pair of bronze baluster vases
18th/early 19th century
Each with a central band of medallions neatly
cast in relief enclosing a stylised hovering bat
beneath foliate scrolls, surmounted by a uniformly
decorated band of stylised floral medallions and
above a border of upright cicada lappets, all below
a narrow row of florets.
Each 22.7cm (9in) high (2).

An archaistic gold and silver-inlaid
bronze vase, hu
18th century
The ovoid body supported on a slightly spreading
foot, centrally decorated on leiwen grounds with
a relief band of inlaid taotie masks, above a wide
border of descending cicada lappets, surmounted
by a narrower band of confronted coiling dragons,
the neck cast with a similar taotie band flanked by
two monster-head flanged inlaid handles, all beneath
a silver-inlaid key-fret border below the rim.
