A gilt-bronze figure of seated
Sakyamuni
Late Ming Dynasty
Cast seated cross-legged with his right hand
held in bhumisparsa mudra and the left in dhyana
mudra, the left palm and the feet incised with the
auspicious symbol of the chakra, the benevolent
face gently smiling with his eyes downcast
between elongated pendulous ears, beneath tightly
curled hair and above a swastika on his chest,
wearing a pleated robe with incised lotus borders
and remains of red tint, the folds spreading out to
the front of the figure.

Cast seated cross-legged with the right hand held
in bhumisparsa mudra and the left hand holding
an alms bowl in dhyana mudra, wearing a pleated
robe partially concealing the broad chest, the
serene face with his eyes downcast and a gentle
smile, between elongated pendulous ears beneath
his tightly curled hair, all supported on a double-
lotus pedestal.
