A gilt-bronze figure of Sakyamuni
Early 16th century
Cast seated cross-legged with a benevolent
face smiling with his eyes downcast flanked by
pendulous earlobes beneath his hair in tight curls,
his right hand reaching towards the ground in
bhumisparsa mudra and the left hand in dhyana
mudra, wearing a pleated robe with incised floral
borders open at the chest revealing a swastika
emblem, all above a double-lotus pedestal.

of Buddha
16th century
Cast seated cross-legged atop a high lotus
pedestal with a serene face between pendulous
ears beneath tightly curled hair, wearing a pleated
robe opening across his chest and the hands in
auspicious mudras, the figure all covered in red
lacquer and gilt.
