A ‘Shoulao and deer’ bamboo brushpot, bitong
17th century, Yuanzhi seal mark
The rich and glossy wood carved as a knotted pine trunk issuing two
needled branches and supporting a figure of the God of Longevity
leaning on a gnarled staff and grasping a ripe peach while a boy
walks beside him holding another peach and a spotted deer stands
nearby, wood stand.
