A blue overlay clear green glass ‘brocade’
snuff bottle
1750-1820
Well-hollowed, of flattened rounded form with sloping shoulders,
cylindrical neck, flat lip, rounded oval foot ring, the transparent pale
green bottle decorated with a single layer of blue overlay, finely carved
as if wrapped with a brocade cloth with flower-head diapers and tied
to one side with a trailing ribbon.

A blue overlaid white glass snuff bottle
1780-1850
Well-hollowed, of flattened rounded form with sloping shoulders,
waisted neck, flat lip, neatly finished oval foot ring, finely carved through
the overlay with a continuous scene depicting carps swimming through
carefully incised waves issuing lotus leaves and flowers with elegant
slender stems, with two dragonflies in flight, the bright blue overlay
creating a striking contrast to the milky-white ground.
