A rare white overlay blue glass snuff bottle

The well-hollowed bottle of compressed ovoid form with a gently
44 | BONHAMS waisted neck, flat lip, the rich sapphire blue ground applied with
white overlay, delicately carved around the walls with butterflies and
seasonal flowers springing from a pierced rockwork band surrounding
the finely finished oval foot ring.

A saphire-blue overlaid milky-white glass
snuff bottle
1780-1850
well-hollowed, of rounded rectangular form with a cylindrical neck, flat
lip, and gently splayed oval foot ring, carved through the brilliant blue
overlay one side depicting a cat on a rock formation under a blooming
prunus tree looking up at a butterfly, the reverse decorated with a
squirrel and fruiting grapevines, the narrow sides flanked with lion
mask-and-ring handles.
