A red overlaid ‘snowflake’ glass snuff bottle

Very well-hollowed, of ovoid form with a subtly waisted neck, flat lip,
40 | BONHAMS neatly finished oval foot ring, finely carved through a layer of cranberry-
red overlay to the front and reverse with two circular reserves framing
carefully detailed archaistic vessels holding auspicious objects, the
narrow sides carved with two faux lion mask-and-ring handles.

An exquisite red glass overlay ‘chi dragon’
snuff bottle
Possibly Imperial, Palace Workshops, Beijing 1750-1820
Well-hollowed, of miniature ovoid form, with a gently waisted neck, flat
lip, oval foot ring, finely carved through the red overlay applied to the front
and back of the milky-white ground with a coiling chilong, separated by
two faux lion masks-and-ring handles set to the narrow sides.
