A BLACK JADE CARVING OF A MYTHICAL BEAST
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
明十七世紀 黑玉瑞獸把件
The single-horned beast is carved in a recumbent position with is legs tucked
neatly beneath its body and its tail coiled upon its haunches. The stone is of a
dark brownish-black tone with some subtle pale streaked inclusions.

TWO MOTTLED JADE CEREMONIAL BLADES
MING DYNASTY OR EARLIER

One blade is thinly carved with a pointed tip and small pierced
aperture, the stone of a dark green tone with some lighter
brownish speckled inclusions. The other blade is of axe-head
form, pierced with two holes, the stone is of a spinach green tone
with blackish mottled inclusions.
