A SILVER WIRE-INLAID AND GILT-EMBELLISHED
BRONZE ARCHAISTIC VASE AND COVER, HU
19TH CENTURY
清十九世紀 銅嵌金銀仿古獸面紋提梁卣
The vase is cast to the body with a large taotie to each side, above
a band of stylised dragons to the foot and stylised mythical beasts
to the neck, all reserved on a leiwen ground. It is applied with a rope
twist loop handle attached to two animal-head fttings at the neck.
The cover is similarly decorated with taotie and kui dragons.

A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ARCHAISTIC SQUARE-FORM VASE,
FANGHU
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
明末十七世紀 掐絲琺瑯仿古獸面紋方壺
The vase is decorated to each side with an archaistic taotie between bands of
various fower scrolls and stylised ‘C’ scrolls, reserved on a blue ground. The
neck is applied with two lug handles.
