A WHITE JADE ‘BOY AND LION’ GROUP
YUAN-MING DYNASTY (1279-1644)
元/明 白玉童子戲獅
The group is carved as a small boy with his arm around a lion seated beside
him. The facial details, clothes and fur are incised. The stone is of a white tone
with some russet and brown inclusions and veins.

The group is fnely carved in the shape of two confronting bats with peach stems. The base is carved with
a gnarled leafy branch with two large peaches. The stone is of an even tone with tiny areas of russet. The
archer’s ring is of an even white colour with russet inclusions.
