The cover is embroidered with a central peony roundel in Peking Knot The yellow satin bands are embroidered in coloured silk and couched gilt
surrounded by bats holding scrolls and scrolling lotus. The design is thread with an upper band depicting a dragon and phoenix; and a central
surrounded by a further register of bats and scrolling lotus. roundel enclosing a pair of Buddhist lions fanked by a the Imperial Symbols
of a hare and cockerel. The vertical panels enclose phoenix, fowers, fruit and
52√ in. wide x 41√ in. long (134.3 cm. x 106.5 cm.) auspicious symbols, all edged with silver foil and separated by red felt squares.
