A JIANYAO ‘HARE’S FUR’ TEA BOWL
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The bowl has deep, rounded conical sides and is covered inside and
out, below the matte, russet-brown, indented rim, with a lustrous
blackish-brown glaze streaked with russet ‘hare’s fur’ markings that
falls short of the foot on the exterior to expose the coarse ware fred
to a purplish-brown color.
