A JIANYAO ‘HARE’S FUR’ TEA BOWL
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The bowl has slightly rounded conical sides and is covered inside and
out, below the matte, russet-brown, indented rim, with a lustrous
blackish-brown glaze densely streaked in russet with ‘hare’s fur’
markings that falls in a thick, irregular line to the foot to expose the
ware fred to a purplish-brown color.
