                         3.4.2. Colour Matters





                        The other distinctive feature of enamelled porcelain was the importance given to the


                        surface  of  decorative  objects,  the  colours  and  the  design  patterns  which  were

                        associated with ‘foreign’. From the late seventeenth century onwards, the increasing

                        trade between China and Western countries brought various foreign goods to China.
