A RARE GREYISH-GREEN AND BROWN
242 JADE FIGURE OF A KNEELING FOREIGNER
TANG-MING DYNASTY, 7TH-16TH CENTURY
The bare-chested man with short curly beard
is shown kneeling on one knee as he squats
and raises his arms above shoulder height.
His face is carved with a broad, triangular
nose and large eyes, and his hair is secured
with a narrow fllet. The fat base and fat
top of the head and hands are drilled for
attachment.

JADE ARCHAISTIC RECTANGULAR CUP
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The faceted body tapers towards a fared
pedestal foot encircled by a bow-string
band, and is carved around the sides with
a central band of S-scrolls between two
bands of dragons with angular scroll bodies.
The handle is formed by a chilong crawling
towards the rim. The semi-translucent stone
has opaque mottling.
