A DARK BROWN AND PALE GREYISH-GREEN JADE WHEEL-FORM PLAQUE
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)

The plaque is carved in openwork as a spoked Buddhist wheel decorated with C-scrolls and
with pearl-like bosses around the circumference. The brown color varies from russet brown to
blackish-brown.
3¿ in. (8 cm.) diam., wood box, the cover carved with a four-character inscription, Lantian
qipin (‘rare object of Lantian’).
