Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Of rectangular form, with two sliding drawers removable from both
ends, elaborately carved in varying degrees of relief with peonies,
chrysanthemums, irises, and cherry blossoms; affixed to a low ivory
stand; signed in a rectangular reserve Shuei.

KODANSU (SMALL CABINET)
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
The exterior inlaid with an elaborate cluster of assorted flowers in
white and coloured shell including hydrangea, peony, narcissus, and
cherry, the front with three drawers of different sizes, similarly inlaid and
87 fitted with knops in the form of buds, the narrow borders and sides of
nashiji, the interior and base also of nashiji, unsigned; on an integral
detachable wood stand.
The kodansu: 9.5cm x 11.7cm x 7.7cm (3¾in x 4 5/8in x 3in);
the stand: 2cm x 14cm (¾in x 5½in). (2).
