7061 Three jade ‘dragon’ belt hooks
Qing dynasty
46 | BONHAMS One hook of cloudy white stone with speckled
gray inclusions, the chilong head finely formed
with bulging eyes beneath stylized brows and
elegantly sweeping horns, the clambering
chilong grasping a lingzhi fungus head in its
mouth; one hook of even celadon stone, the
dragon-head hook crisply carved and the
shaft of rectangular section; one hook of dark
yellow tone with an elegantly carved single-
horned dragon-head as the hook and the
rounded arched body smoothly polished.

A celadon jade belt slide and a
mottled jade belt slide
Ming dynasty
The celadon jade slide carved with one
chilong clambering along the face towards
a smaller chilong crouching at one end
above a scroll terminal turning in towards an
opening of rectangular section for the belt
underneath; the mottled grayish-brown slide
carved in low relief with rows of small bosses
within a sunken panel, the inturned terminals
enclosing the belt slide underneath.

A reticulated gray jade ‘crane
and lotus’ finial
Yuan/Ming dynasty
The pale gray stone with attractive darker
flecking, intricately carved with four cranes
incised with feather details perching and
feeding amidst intertwined stems issuing
heavy lotus blossoms and spreading leaves;
mounted on a circular wooden cover.
