A spinach jade archaistic vase and cover
19th century
Crisply carved in low relief on both sides of the flattened body with
two bands each containing a taotie mask on leiwen ground divided
by flanges a lower register containing stiff pendent archaistic lappets,
the flaring foot and neck also with taotie masks and the part-circular
handles each with an upturned flange and incised with classic scrolls,
the cover similarly formed with taotie masks and flanges beneath the
square-form stepped finial.

A spinach jade archaistic vase
19th century
The dark green jade speckled with tiny darker flecks and mottled with
paler inclusions, hollowed as a flattened baluster vase carved in relief
around the body with a continuous band containing archaistic taotie
masks, the neck with a bands of C-scrolls divided by the handles
formed as stylized dragons.
