A pale green jade ‘Eight Horses’ boulder
20th century
The very pale stone intricately carved with a central figure seated on
a rocky outcrop in a confident, relaxed pose under a gnarled willow
tree, surrounded by eight horses frolicking on various rocky ledges,
the reverse carved with two trees rising to the left of a waterfall flowing
down a rocky crevasse.

Two mounted mirrors inset with jade plaques and
dragon belt hooks
Late Qing/Republic period
The first with a jade belt hook that forms the handle attached to

the oval white metal mirror back inlaid with green jadeite and semi-

precious colored stones, with an oval white jade plaque with a carved

persimmon; the second with jade belt hook forming the handle

attached to the circular white metal mirror mounted with a reticulated

jade plaque carved with a bird among leafy branches.

An archaistic reticulated jade plaque
Of thick, circular section and convex contour, carved in high relief
with two fabulous beasts facing backward toward their bifurcated
tails as they surround a circular medallion with incised spirals, the
legs on each beast also delicately line-incised, the gray-green matrix
displaying veins of russet hue and cloudy white inclusions; now set in
a gold brooch-mount.
