A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘EIGHT
BUDDHIST EMBLEMS’ CUP STAND
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The fat-bottomed dish is modelled with a slightly
raised collar to the centre. It is fnely enamelled to
the centre with a stylised Chinese seal character
for fu (good fortune), enclosed by a petal band.
The well is decorated with the Eight Buddhist
Emblems, bajixiang, supported on a band of
composite foral sprays to the well, below a further
band of cloud scrolls at the rim, all reserved on a
turquoise ground.

MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The small vessel is decorated to the exterior with
various fowerheads encircled by a scrolling foral
vine, all above a petal band around the foot. The
base is decorated with a further fower spray.
