OCTAGONAL JARDINIÈRES
18TH CENTURY
Each jardinière is supported on eight small splayed
bracket feet. The faring sides are decorated with
bats and auspicious symbols in square cartouches,
enclosed with scrolling tendrils.

A CHAMPLEVÉ ‘BATS AND SHOU’
JARDINIÈRE AND A CLOISONNÉ
CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
18TH CENTURY
The cylindrical jardinière is decorated with three
bands of rectangular cartouches, each depicting
two bats facing a stylized shou character, the
lower band with auspicious peaches, all gilded
on a turquoise ground. The circular box and cover
is decorated with six bats and six shou-roundels
amongst clouds, all on a turquoise ground.
The jardinière 5¿ in. (13 cm.) high.
