A PAINTED ENAMEL ‘LANDSCAPE’
RECTANGULAR TRAY
18TH CENTURY
The tray is fashioned with canted corners, the
interior is decorated with a rectangular panel
enclosing a solitary fgure crossing a bridge
leading to a sampan in a mountainous river
landscape, the scene is inscribed and has a seal
reading ‘Bai Shi’. The panel is encircled by a
border of blue-enamelled kui dragons on a lime-
green ground. The reverse is decorated with leaf
scrolls in the same colour scheme and the base is
decorated with a fruit and fower spray.

A PAINTED ENAMEL ‘FIGURAL’ TEAPOT
AND COVER
18TH CENTURY
The teapot is fashioned with a phoenix-head spout
and is decorated to one side with a quatrefoil panel
enclosing a lady reading a book and a scholar in a
garden, and to the other side with a lady and boy in
a fenced garden, all on a yellow-enamelled ground
of scrolling fowers between blue-enamelled scroll
borders. The domed cover is similarly decorated
and is surmounted by a lotus bud fnial.
