A PURPLE-SPLASHED JUNYAO ‘BUBBLE’ BOWL
SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)
The bowl is crafted with gently incurving rounded sides rising from a short
straight foot. It is covered inside and out with a thick glaze of pale blue tone
thinning to a mushroom tone at the mouth rim and falling just above the foot
to reveal the brown body of the ceramic. The interior is decorated with two
vibrant purple splashes.
