A yellow embroidered silk twelve-symbol
dragon robe
19th century
Embroidered in silk and gold-wrapped threads with nine five-clawed
dragons and the twelve imperial symbols placed amid cloud scrolls,
shou medallions, flower blossoms, and the Buddhist emblems, within
a wide lishui border beneath the celestial diagrams soaring above
crashing waves churning auspicious objects, the collar bands and
horseshoe cuffs embroidered en suite on a dark blue ground.

Four of the twelve symbols- the sun, moon, mountain, and
constellation - are positioned symmetrically around the neck while the
eight other symbols appear on the front and back of the robe.

An embroidered yellow silk dragon panel
18th/19th century
Structured with two vertical fragments seamed together at center,
worked in bright-colored and gilt-couched threads on a yellow silk
ground woven with cloud scrolls, depicting two ferocious-looking
dragons with scaly bodies striding up amid clouds and wave scrolls;
mounted with a silk brocade band, framed and glazed.
