A pair of sgraffito blue enamel ground medallion
bowls with famille rose decoration
Daoguang period, Wen fu ya wan marks
Each of inverted bell form displaying on the exterior walls four circular

roundels filled with autumn blossoms surrounded by an opaque sky-

blue enamel ground incised with feather patterns and painted with

vividly hued flowering branches, the four-character mark written in iron

red regular script to each recessed base.

The mark has been translated as Elegant trinket for a man of literature:
see the pair of bowls with the same decoration and marks but of

20024, 8 November 2012, lot 85.

A polychrome and gilt enameled dragon and
phoenix charger
Guangxu six-character mark and of the period
Molded with a flared rim to the wide curving well displaying a

dragon and pearl painted in iron red and gilt while the phoenix

and clouds are rendered in the opaque famille rose enamels that

repeat in three floral sprays on the exterior walls, the mark on the

recessed base written in iron red regular script and all surfaces

except the foot pad covered in glaze.

Qianlong mark, Guangxu period
Thickly potted with a flared edge to the wide curving well painted
in iron red with two dragons amid clouds facing a flaming pearl,
the pearl painted in gilt, the dragons’ eyes dotted in black on an
opaque white enamel ground also coloring their fangs and the
design repeated along the exterior walls, the recessed base bearing
the six-character mark in iron red regular script and all surfaces
except the foot pad covered in glaze.
