An inside-painted rock crystal snuff bottle
Ma Shaoxuan, 1896
Its rounded body with sloping shoulders, rising to a straight short
neck, flat rim, recessed oval foot, painted continuously in pleasant-
hued colors depicting butterflies and flowers, one side inscribed huan
tian xi di (happiness in heaven and earth), with a small square seal in
red, the other side dated bing shen, corresponding to 1896, with a
signature Ma Shaoxuan, vertical oval seal mark reading Shaoxuan.

A fine rock crystal snuff bottle
18th century
The tapering ovoid bottle supported on a rounded oval foot ring, its
shoulders wrapped with raised ‘brocade’ decorated with incised key-
fret borders and tied at the waisted neck with a braided ‘string,’ the
narrower sides flanked with faux lion mask-and-ring handles.
