chasing faming pearls and is enamelled in yellow, aubergine, black, lime pl. XXXV, fg.1.
and green, and glazed on biscuit with two butterfies between blossoming

A FAMILLE VERTE ‘DRAGON’ DISH
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN
UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE
CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The well of the dish is incised with a lively dragon in
pursuit of a faming pearl. The cavetto is incised with
a pair of striding dragons chasing further faming
pearls repeated on the exterior above a petal lappet
band. The entire dish, with the exception of the base,
has been applied with a cream glaze and painted
in enamels with two leafy branches, one bearing
peaches, the other pomegranates, outlined in brown
and highlighted in tones of light and dark green,
yellow, aubergine and pale blue.
