A FAMILLE ROSE ‘SILK PRODUCTION’ AND ‘FIELD
TILLING’ BOWL
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN IRON-RED
AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowl is fnely rendered with four scenes, two depicting fgures
tending to rice felds, taken from the ‘Gengzhi tu’ (Pictures of
Tilling and Weaving), and two the processing and weighing of of
silk cocoons. Each scene is accompanied by a poetic descriptive
inscription. The scalloped rim is highlighted in gilt.

The cover is decorated with a pair of magpies
perched on fowering branches of prunus
surrounded by chrysanthemum fowers. The
box is painted with branches of prunus and
chrysanthemum.
