cast with two Buddhas side by side seated in dhyanasana on
a tapering four-legged plinth, each deity framed by an incised
flame-shaped mandorla picked out with striated flaming
motifs, the reverse of the mandorla decorated with a seated
figure of Buddha within a foliate scroll-shaped border, the sides
and reverse of the plinth incised with a dedicatory inscription
dated to the sixth month of the eighth year of the Taihe period
of the Northern Wei (484 AD)
Height 15 cm, 5⅞ in.

Acquired from Joseph Chan, Hong Kong, in the late 1980s.
