Each carved through rich layers of cinnabar no.W.459-1922), illustrated by E.F.Strange, Carved on the top with the bearded Zhong
lacquer, the interior with a central lotus Catalogue of Chinese Lacquer, London, 1925, Kui leading his sister, gliding on long wispy
medallion surrounded by sprays of floral pl.VII, no.17; and see a related pair of carved clouds above roofs and trees, all within a
blooms and leaves, encircled by a band of ruyi cinnabar lacquer ‘chrysanthemum’ lobed shaped cartouche, the sides with auspicious
heads, the cavetto with a diaper-pattern band, dishes, Qianlong, which was sold at Sotheby’s citrons and fruits, all between key-fret borders.
