17th/18th century
Comprising a standing figure of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and
Compassion, with almond-shaped face and dressed in layered robes,
holding a sacred vase and prayer beads, 21.5cm (8 1/2in) high; and a
group of Shoulao, the Star God of Longevity, holding a walking stick in
his right hand, being presented with a peach by his boy attendant on
his left side, wood stands, 23cm (9in) high. (4).

A SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF A LADY HOLDING A VASE
17th/18th century
Standing on a high base of pitted rocks, holding a square cong vase
scroll with both hands, wearing a long draping robe finely incised with
floral clusters of vaporous clouds and tied at the waist with a flowing
sash falling over a pair of loose trousers, the stone of pale honey-
brown colour with reddish inclusions, traces of coloured pigments
remaining. 23.5cm (9 1/4 in) high.
