The vessel of rectangular form with canted
corners, rising from four ruyi feet to a flaring
rim, brightly enamelled around the exterior
with stylised lotus blossoms issuing exuberant
scrolling stems within two bands of ruyi heads,
all on a deep turquoise ground, with later
reticulated hongmu wood cover.

BEEHIVE-SHAPED WATERPOT, TAIBO ZUN
Jingtai incised seal mark, late Ming Dynasty
Set on four semi-circular feet, the body
decorated with undulating densely-meandering
yellow, brick-red, white and dark green lotus
sprays issuing from leafy stems, a lotus-leaf-
lappet collar framing the aperture, incised 547
apocryphal Jingtai two-character seal mark on
the base.

A RARE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL DISH
16th century
The dish with shallow rounded sides rising from
a flat base to an everted rim, brightly enamelled
on a turquoise ground in the central medallion
enclosing a blossoming flower head, encircled
by an undulating leafy-lotus scroll at the well,
surrounded by a band of scrolling florettes at the
cavetto and clusters of ruyi clouds at the rim.
15.5cm (6 1/8in) diam.
