AN UNUSUAL CINNABAR RED AND GREEN OVERLAY OCHER
GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
1820-1880
Of flattened oval shape with a short neck and flat lip, the ocher ground
crisply carved with waves and clouds, the green overlay used to carve
on one side a small bat and a dragon-fish issuing a pearl from its
mouth as it leaps from waves that encircle the base of the bottle that
also forms the foot ring, reversed by a flying crane above the rising
sun, the cinnabar red used to accent the design.
