A PALE CELADON JADE ‘DOG’ SNUFF BOTTLE
1800-1860
Carved as a plump puppy with floppy ears in a recumbent
pose, paws tucked under the body, the tail curled over the
back, the alert eyes inlaid, the mouth of the bottle situated
where the puppy’s nose should be, the lustrous translucent
stone with some cloudy inclusions.

Carved in the round as a crouching rat, its legs tucked
under the body, the tail curled to one side, the mouth of the
bottle located where the tip of the rat’s nose should be, the
translucent stone with some cloudy inclusions.
