TWO PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES
19th century, Guangxu period
The first a doucai bottle of flattened circular form surmounted by a
tubular neck and flat gilded lip, each main side painted with a scene
of an oxherd riding an ox, accented with gilt, the foot inscribed with a
four-character Qianlong mark enclosed within the oval foot ring; the
second a Guangxu period famille verte bottle of attenuated ovoid form
with a short waisted neck and circular foot ring, the sides painted with
nine playful lions and cubs.

TWO PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES
1750-1850
The first a blue and white conjoined bottle, painted beneath the
finely crackled glaze with a parliament of magpies perched in the
branches of blossoming plum trees, the foot of one inscribed ya, the
other inscribed zhi; the second a famille verte bottle, of flattened pear
shape, each side with a quatrefoil panel with raised border enclosing
a landscape scene, one with painted seal reading Zhuju, the panels
reserved against a foral ground incorporating iron-red fu and shou
characters, all supported on an oval foot ring.
